Myself and eight other Candians represented Canada at the World Gold Panning Championships in Australia. We had some excellant results with an 8 year old youth winning the Silver Medal, and in a novelty event a three person team won the bronze. This was called the Tri-Pan event.

Over 300 Gold Panners from 20 Countries showed up at the World Gold Panning Championships that was held in Australia. The winner of the Skilled Mens was from Sweden, and the winner of the Skilled Women's was from Finland. The Vetrans from U.S.A. won the Gold. The National team event was won from Australia.

Each competitor is given a bucket containing 20 litres of dirt. We pan it out as fast as we can. If we lose a gold flake, you are penalized 5 minutes. We do not know how many flakes are put in our buckets. One needs speed and accuracy to win the Championships.

We always need more Candians to represent Canada and if you would like to, please contact "Yukon Dan".
